CIRCUMSTANCES

Do you sometimes feel that life is not what you expected? That the things you had planned are just not working out. Circumstances have hijacked your dreams and aspirations. At times things are working out just the opposite of what you had planned. Are you frustrated and discouraged.

Much of what happens in your life is out of your control. Sometimes it is as insignificant as a change in the weather that ruins your weekend plans. Other times it may be catastrophic, such as a terminal illness. You really have no control over these circumstances, but you do have a choice as to how you respond to them.

Rather than becoming angry at your own inability to alter these events, be thankful that God is all-powerful and is in control over all these situations. God can either change the circumstances or give you the strength to endure them.

In his first letter to the Corinthian church, Paul wrote, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1CO 10:13

Paul encouraged the church in Rome in the 8th chapter of his letter to them “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” ROM 8:28

Finally, Paul encouraged the church in Philippi with words from his own experience. “I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
PHI 4:12-13

Be encouraged with what God’s word records In Proverbs 3:5-12 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
Honor the LORD with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor detest His correction; for whom the LORD loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.
