In 1555, in Oxford England Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley were burned at the stake.
This was the price required for their refusal to bow to the rules of the Catholic Church.
As the flames grew high and consumed their bodies, Latimer cried out.  “Be of good comfort, master Ridley, and play the man. We shall this day light such a candle by God’s grace in England as I trust shall never be put out.”
Latimer and Ridley were required to succumb to the flames that day. God did not deliver them from their fate on earth,
but He did deliver them from the eternal flames of judgment by their trust in Christ.
These two men were displaying their faith in Christ to the Catholic Church even as the three Hebrew youngsters displayed their faith to Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were thrown into the fiery furnace for refusing to fall down and worship a golden image. But God delivered them. They didn’t know what God’s plan was for their life. But their faith carried them through.
They were prepared to die knowing that God is still on the throne and looking out for those who are faithful to Him. And they were fine with that.
Which brings us to a very serious question.
Are you fine with the plan that God has for your life?
Has your faith prepared you to accept whatever God’s choice is for you in life?
Faith does not question the circumstance of deliverance as long as we are sure that deliverance comes from God.
