This man Jesus

Who is this man Jesus?

~The origin of man:

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:26-27

When God said, "Let Us make man in Our image". He was referring the Tree persons of God. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word [Jesus], and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.)

1 John 5:7

  • God said, "Let Us make man in Our image.
  • According to Our likeness.
  • So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
  • "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:24
  • As Spirit God has no physical body.
  • When God breathed His life into the body of man that He had created the man became the vehicle that possessed the Spiritual image of God.
  1. Sinless, perfect, holy, and righteous.

In Scripture this man is referred to as the "first Adam". (And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam [Jesus] became a life-giving spirit.)

1st Corinthians 15:45

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7

  • The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground.
  • And breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. (the eternal life of God)
  • And man became a living being. (Containing the eternal spiritual life of God.)
  • At this point God has a body in which He is represented.

~Adam the original man:

Genesis 2:19  Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.

  • Brought them to Adam to see what he would call them.
  • And whatever Adam called each living creature that was its name.

~Birth of Jesus Foretold:

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!"

But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. "And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end." Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:26-35

  • The Holy Spirit will come upon you.
  • And the power of the Highest will overshadow you.
  • That Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

God created the first Adam as a vehicle to represent Himself; He created the second Adam for the same reason.

  • The first Adam came into this world as a body.
  • And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Genesis 2:7

  • The second Adam came into this world as a baby.
  • Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 1:18
  • The body of first Adam was the earthly dwelling place of God.
  • Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Genesis 1:26
  • The body of second Adam was also the earthly dwelling place of God.
  • "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." Matthew 1:23

This man Jesus is the manifestation of God in the flesh.

  • The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Mark 1:1
  • And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory. 1 Timothy 3:16
  • In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
  • In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
  • And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
  • He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:15-16
  • Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of God." Matthew 14:33
  • Now when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!" Matthew 27:54

This man Jesus is the perfect sacrifice for the sin of the world.

  • And He Himself is the propitiation [payment in full] for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 John 2:2
  • And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:2
  • He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Hebrews 9:26
  • Hebrews 10:5  Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me.
  • But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, Hebrews 10:12

This man Jesus is the God who indwells the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, "even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.   "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. John 14:16-18
  • "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
